These pictures are post PPF installation from [https://www.321tint.com/ Eclipse Window Tint]. They came really highly recommended, and do both of the local Porsche dealers and most of the really high end cars in town (they had a Ferrari and a Lambo in the shop while my car was there). I considered getting the entire car wrapped, but that was a bit too expensive, so I went with the full front (window frame, quarter panels, mirrors) + the door cups), plus full ceramic. They use templates to cut their film rather than do full custom, and they didn't have a good 2004 Boxster template, so doing the rockers and rear quarter panels would've been custom so I opted to not go with those, and although the result was good, I don't think it was outstanding. For the money, I assumed they would do a custom fit, and wouldn't accept any bubbles or stretch marks, and although there aren't many, there are some blemishes in the delivered product.
| |||

Purchase
Bought from "ZAuto" Long Island, NY / "11JM Automotive LLC" Margate, FL, James M Berry. Had 26,587 miles when loaded for shipment and 26,588 when delivered! Jim replaced the tires before shipping for my preferred Michelin Pilot Sport 4S summer performance tires. Altantic Coast Auto Brokers managed the shipping through carshipio.com, with "Mr. Haul". Joanne Kobrin was the first owner of my car, and James Dean the second. It's had it's air/oil separator and IMS bearing replaced already, as well as the rear trunk struts and spoiler relays.

"Living the good life" - 10 April 2026
These pictures are post PPF installation from Eclipse Window Tint.
"Brothers from another mother" - 16 January 2026
We got a nice weather day before the lift got installed for me to run over to the BMV to get the Title and temporary tag/registration for Tweety.
Car Lift Install 19 January 2026
When purchased a 4 post car lift from Bill Pauley in Glendale (a neighbor) and KOI Autoparts, the Titan SDPL-8KMS 8,000lb lift. The lift itself was just over $5k, with another ~$1,500 for the tractor platform. We'll probably build a shed for the tractor and yard tools for the summer, so the Boxster can be down and ready to go in the summer. The tractor blade doesn't clear the ground well in the winter, so the Boxster will stay on the lift, and the tractor ready-to-plow in the winter. I installed the longer lights from the 15 Grid Hex lite kit under the lift, with a Homekit magnetic switch so that when there is prescence detected in the garage, the garage lights come on, and if the lift is up, so do the lift lights, and if it's down they stay off.
Garage Lighting Upgrades January 2026
I also decided to upgrade the garage lighting to Hyperlite hexagon grids, in a semi-random pattern. There was one kit that was meant to surround a set of hexagons with a rectangle, and I chose to use those under the lift. I bought the optional drop-in platform for the lift so I could put the mower and some other things up there, and it can get fairly dark underneath it because of that.
Delivery 14 January 2026
James agreed to place an AirTag in the car prior to shipment, and since the one I mailed to him didn't arrive in time, he took the one from his dog and dropped it in the car! The shipper arrived late in NY, and got a late start, so he couldn't deliver it the same day (Tuesday). It took him a couple of hours just to get off of Long Island, and 12 or so hours to get to Cincinnati.
Exterior Pictures - at time of original sale
This is where the Boxster went up for sale on PCarMarket (Bring-a-Trailer first) from the second owner, James Dean, sold July 5, 2025. He seemed to have only owned it for about 2 years, and seems to have tracked it (one of the services indicates this) and sold it the next year. The original owner, Joanne Kobrin owned it for 19 years, until at least 2023, and serviced it regularly, and drove it only sparingly.

Apple CarPlay Head Unit and Backup Camera Upgrade
I wanted to upgrade the radio on my Boxster to something more modern, prerably with CarPlay, and hopefully a backup camera. I started out looking at, and planning to install, the Porsche PCCM+ (Porsche Classic) upgrade CarPlay radio/head unit. That unit link, though, didn't support backup cameras, and was really expensive. The local shop that I chose to do the install also said it was old and the interface was sluggish, and kind of talked me out of it. Instead I went for a knock-off Android 13 from Amazon (CHSTEK 8581B link). This is a 8" screen unit with wireless car play (8 core, 4g+64g ram with UIS8581A 8 Core 64 bit CPU) with 1024x600p resolution. To this I paired a license-plate-lamp based backup camera (link) that is 1280x720p wth 170 degree viewing angle and guidance lines. Finally, since I was moving from a DIN 1 to Double Din size radio, and the climate controls would need to be moved anyway (and eliminating my cup holders), I also added an Autobahn A1 Apple MagSafe charger (link) for my phone.
Combined, I would have a convenient place for my phone, that would keep it charged, while wireless connecting to the display for CarPlay, with added backup camera functionality. I couldn't be happier.
